School was closed today due to icy conditions-so being a good foot soldier, i did what my boss told me to do and stayed home. After a long breakfast, i sat down and began painting 2011. From time to time on scrap paper, sketchbooks and church bulletins i would write down idea or places of interest. Snow day Friday i began to paint them....all. Starting with bold washes of color on the paper as a ground, i would go with the flow (watercolor pun i guess) as to the form it would take. The subjects range geographically from the Beale Street to Shelby Farms, present day to 1960's, from whimsical to monumental.
Each give you a glimpse
and better understanding of Memphis.
All in all not a bad day off "work"
