This painting was painting as an expression of loss and comfort. Luke Pruett was a student of mine whose life ended sooner than we expected. On October 2, 2010 Luke died in a car accident after a football game. Hearing new like that and having to tell my cross country girls that a friend of theirs wouldn't be at school anymore was the hardest thing i had to do as a coach. This painting is encompasses Luke's artwork, faith, family and words said during worship during our mourning. Alan Durham told our students that "You have not lost your friend, he has merely run ahead." These words stuck with me because they are both true and comforting. I will see Luke again because he believed in the redemption found in Christ.
