Flying South

At the end of the school year departure is inevitable due to graduation, promotion or people just needing change of scenery. Got me thinking about birds. They move on a schedule much like then end of a school year. i painted a couple of bird houses as i watched folks leave wondering where they were flying off to and curious as to where they would land.

One of the bird that flew last year was my principal. He was one of the reasons i returned home to teach. He is a good mentor and friend. This bust was created to honor him for his years of service. I was honored to create it and proud that i still have the sculpting feather in my hat.
